By: Valentine Adese (JP), The achievements of the Non-Governmental and Non-Profit Organization, The Women’s Rights Advancement and Protection Alternative (WRAPA) in Plateau State has been commended by participants in a Close-Out Meeting organized today, the 31 st of January, 2023, at City Lodge Hotel in Jos. The participants numbering 30, commended WRAPA, the Standing Committees and other contributors, for the passage of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) and the Gender Equal Opportunity (GEO) Laws in 2022 and 2015 respectively. PARTICIPANTS The meeting tagged, AWDF/WRAPA: Legal and Social Empowerment Program on Women’s Rights in Kaduna and Plateau States, which focused on Activity 1.3: Social and Legislative Advocacy Meeting” with key actors, for the effective implementation of the Model Laws, also took time to review and take updates from key actors. By: Valentine Adese (JP), The embattled Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Nuhu Abok Ayuba has dragged the new Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Y. Sanda and 16 Members of the House to Court, seeking the Plateau State High Court to declare that, his removal was a violation of Section 92(2)(c) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Rt. Hon. Abok, also seeks the Court to declare that, the sitting of the House on Thursday, 28 th October, 2021, between the hours of 6.00am and 7.00am was un-parliamentary and in violation of the provisions of Order 6 rule 1 of the Plateau State House of Assembly Standing Orders 2021 as amended and therefore unlawful, null and void. Still worrisome is the report that, others sustain various degrees of injuries in the reported accidents, while returning from the party’s campaign flag-off. I know for a fact that, the party’s campaign is scheduled to hold across the state, as a build up to the forthcoming general elections. While I am yet to recover from the shock and misty-eye, I want to use this medium to extend my sincere empathy to the Plateau State PDP family, the State Executive, Stakeholders, Flag-bearers and the entire citizens of Plateau State. Solomon Dalung (Esq), the former Nigerian Minister of Sports and currently the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the race for the seat of Langtang North/South Federal Constituency has reiterated that, the incumbent member representing the constituency has wasted 16 years of the people’s mandate on the seat. Ashoms has ordered, Mr. John Gabriel Mallo and Mr. Bulus Mandor to go to Prison for being in contempt of Court Orders in respect to Butura Stool in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State. The Court in its Ruling and Judgment today in a Committal Proceeding brought against, Hon. Dayabu Garga (the incumbent Chairman of Kanam Local Government Council), Mr. John Gabriel Mallo, Mr. Bulus Mandor, Mr. Monday Adachin and Mr. James Yilnaan by Masok Malo, Malo Matawal and Enock Kamo, insisted that, Court Orders must be protected.
